Tickets for Harry Styles super intimate and much sort after world tour are about to go on sale, and as we prepare for The Harry Games I am confronted by yet another annoying round of ‘let’s make fun of fangirls’. It’s amazing after Harry Styles impassioned speech in Rolling Stone about how teenage girls are the future I’m still stuck with folks making jokes about how hilariously over the top fans can be.

A Shipping News Special: The Destiel Dilemma and Other Communication Problems
So it seems it finally happened - the good ship Destiel was sunk for good (or not depending on who you talk to) and a number of you asked me to talk about it. But I’m not going to, not really. Let’s face it everything that could possibly be said about this has already been said and I will link you to what I think are the best discussions at the end of this blog but first I want to talk about the problematic assumptions that played an important role in this and many other events like it.

Fangirl 101: Fandom and Entitlement
So far most of my fangirl
lessons have been all about doing whatever the hell you want with the
characters you love; whether it’s shipping,
slash
or fan
fiction. Generally I stand by this sentiment but there is a limit. I think
we have the right to play with other people’s characters but that doesn’t mean
that TPTB owe it to you to change their narrative to fit your vision. There’s a
difference between really wanting
something and feeling like you are entitled to it… let’s talk about that shall
we.
