If you have ever ventured onto any kind of fan related site
– or you have a tumblr – then you might have heard the term ‘Shipping’. If
you’re unfortunate enough to know me then I have probably dropped this term
into a conversation more often than is healthy. But chances are you had no idea
what I am talking about and no, it does not have anything to do with sending
products overseas which is why I decided to write this blog because I am sick
of having to explain the term to people who don’t spend their time obsessing
over fictional characters.

5 Blockbusters I am literally squeeing in anticipation of in 2012.
I don’t know whether it’s just
that whoever is doing the trailers at the moment is brilliant or what but I am
excited for movies this year. 2012 is shaping up to be a big year for blockbusters
with some of the most anticipated films ever hitting our screens.
These films need little
introduction; you’ve probably already been saturated with propaganda but
goodness they’re captivating. These are the films that cause people to line the
streets for hours and I am not even ashamed to say that I will be one of those
people. So without further ado these are the five films my fangirl heart is
beating for in 2012.

Recognition Matters: A response to Supernatural's recent snub at the PCA's
I
have always been a fangirl. Even before I knew there was a term for it.
I
think I was eight when I first realised that the way I felt about TV shows,
movies and books was different to the way other people felt. I realised that
caring the way that I cared about fictional characters was considered a bit
weird if not delusional. I accepted this because I have always been seen as a
little bit weird so adding another item to my list of quirks wasn’t the worst
thing that could happen.
But
being a fan isn’t all of it because I am also a fan of something very specific;
Sci-Fi and Fantasy two things that have been and still are associated with
childhood.

Hiatus Catch Up: Community
Now I know this post isn’t
exactly Christmas related, but it does fit with this time of year I promise. It
fits because its hiatus time again, ratings have finished, your going on
holidays and nothing is on TV and I’m sure everyone has started asking you
what’s on your Christmas list. It’s a lot of pressure or at least it was until now
because I am about to tell you what you want for Christmas – and consequently
what you want to get for everyone else. I am talking, of course, about a little
NBC comedy about a rag tag bunch of misfits and losers that attend college
together aka Community.

TV’s Top 10 Christmas Episodes
It’s that time of year again
folks, some of you might be sitting around wallowing in the loss of another
year or dreading the inevitable family functions but I have a better idea.
Let’s talk Christmas in Pop Culture – Anyway I thought I would attempt to
spread some Christmas cheer the only way I know how – a top 10 list! I know top
10 lists annoy everyone but it’s Christmas so you have to forgive me.

Gone But Not Forgotten: Dark Angel
My love affair with TV is
not often understood by those outside the fandom, especially my family so it meant a lot to me that my mum was making the effort
to understand my world. But personal family soap opera aside, I really just like introducing people to the worlds and characters that I love. All I want for Christmas is more people to watch TV with. As I had already converted my mother to the Supernatural religion, one of the
first programs I decided to inflict on my mother was the short-lived
Sci-Fi Dark Angel and it
wasn't just because of my newly inflamed passion for Jensen Ackles I
swear.

Let's Talk About Sex: An analysis of Glee's “The First Time”.
There has been a lot said
about this episode already, in fact there was a lot said about this
episode before it aired – nothing causes controversy like teen sex.
Still, I doubt it would have caused quite so much trouble if it wasn't
two boys that were having sex. Anyway I have had, and have seen, an
awful lot of arguments about this episode, so rather than answering
everyone individually I thought I would post it here... far away from
any kind of physical retributions.
Should be a given but in
case you don't, you know think about things, there will be spoilers
if you haven't seen the episode.

“Lives ruined, bloodshed”: Top 10 Epic Romances on the Small Screen - Part 3
It's
taken me a while to post this final part – and that is mainly
because I am lazy but partly because I have actually been writing my
novel, which may or may not never be finished. Excuses I know but for
those two people that have been waiting to find out who will take out
the top position in my list of Epic TV Romances – wait no more
because the answer is finally here. As usual if you don't agree with
me you can just suck it because this is my blog and what I say goes –
or you can comment, that would be cool too.
