A Shipping News Special: Why is Sterek so Popular?

I have been asked, on several occasions, to explain why so many people like Sterek. There are a lot of other slash ships out there, most of which have more canonical evidence to back them up but there is something about Sterek that has taken it above and beyond. The problem is there are too many factors that contribute to Sterek’s popularity and I could probably go on about it for weeks but no one would read it so instead I have compiled a list of 10 things (and one more for luck) that I believe helped Sterek become such a phenomenal success.

A Shipping News Special: Woe is Fandom, No One Will Ever Understand Us

Three guesses as to what I am going to talk about this week… of course it’s Sterek. Yeah I know but I committed so this is happening. The week started out so well. Sterek won another poll, EOnline interviewed Jeff and Matt gave us some adorable new Hobrien gifs. Everything was happy sparkle fun time until MTV remote control decided to get in on the action and everything just spiraled out of control.

I am incredibly late with this weeks shipping news and I have absolutely no excuse other than the fact that I am incredibly lazy (also Murphy’s Law) but I have decided to take some time out of my Saturday morning to help you stay up to date with all things shipping. Remember how Sterek won AfterElton’s slash madness tourney? It was pretty awesome, and in the midst of my excitement at the win I promised to count down the Top 10 Sterek moments. I thought it would be easy, just a simple little list, how hard could it be?

Shipping News: We have a winner, but what do we do now?

You can breath a sigh of relief because the femslash and slash madness tournaments have finally come to an end with Faberry and Sterek crowned victors. To be honest the end results were pretty much what I expected – although I thought Swan Queen would make the femslash final – but the whole thing was so much fun that it doesn’t really matter. The fact is that the end of this competition has left an aching hole inside my heart and I need something to fill it.

Ok so I know I’m only supposed to this once a week but AfterElton’s Shipping Madness Tournament just got uber exciting and seeing as I can’t decide on who to vote for (whoever wins, I win) I figured I would just offer pithy commentary to keep those outside the fandom in the loop.

Shipping News: Slash madness is driving me mad, Glee is still Glee and everyone’s craving cookies.

This week in shipping news – the wedding of the decade (the decade being the 1920s), Slash and Femslash madness reach epic finals and Sterek shippers are baking for a cause. The plan with this post was to begin a weekly segment that outlines all the biggest news from the world of “shipping” - I’ve mentioned “shipping” before, so if you have no idea what I'm talking about then please head here first (if you have stumbled across this because you are interested in actual nautical adventures then please exit the page now). I meant for it to encompass, all ships and all shows but when I sat down to write it there is really only one thing that is worthy of discussion and that’s a little ship by the name of “Sterek”.
