Game of Throne is everyone’s favourite television show and it’s almost time for
Season 3. Seriously though, even people that don’t like TV love Game of Thrones. Part of that is George
R.R. Martin’s fantastic story but a lot of it comes from HBO’s amazing
adaptation. Really it’s the first fantasy production that manages to
encapsulate what I love about this genre (on television anyway). There are
almost as many reasons to love Game of
Thrones as there are people that love it. There is not enough time for me
to talk about them all so I’m going to feature one of the things that makes Game of Thrones great… its ability to
get people talking. Without further ado – here are the top ten moments that had
people crowding around the watercooler to discuss them on Monday mornings.

Fangirl 101: An Idiot’s Guide to Talking About Shipping
I get a lot of questions from all kinds of people outside fandom.
They ask a variety of different things but more often than not they want to
know about shipping. I’ve already written a basic guide to shipping,
slash
and fan
fiction but that doesn’t seem to be enough because while they understand
the general concepts, they still don’t know how to talk about them. In an
effort to stop myself from having to have the same conversation over and over
again I’m going to give you a simple set of rules to help outsiders navigate
the tempestuous waters of the shipping fandom.

A Shipping News Special: Woe is Fandom, No One Will Ever Understand Us
Three guesses as to what I am going to talk about this week… of
course it’s Sterek. Yeah I know but I committed so this is happening. The week
started out so well. Sterek won another poll, EOnline interviewed Jeff and Matt
gave us some adorable new Hobrien gifs. Everything was happy sparkle fun time
until MTV remote control decided to get in on the action and everything just
spiraled out of control.

Fangirl 101: Fandom and Entitlement
So far most of my fangirl
lessons have been all about doing whatever the hell you want with the
characters you love; whether it’s shipping,
slash
or fan
fiction. Generally I stand by this sentiment but there is a limit. I think
we have the right to play with other people’s characters but that doesn’t mean
that TPTB owe it to you to change their narrative to fit your vision. There’s a
difference between really wanting
something and feeling like you are entitled to it… let’s talk about that shall
we.

Shipping News: It doesn’t matter what you ship on Supernatural it always ends in pain!
I am incredibly late with this weeks shipping news and I have absolutely
no excuse other than the fact that I am incredibly lazy (also Murphy’s Law) but
I have decided to take some time out of my Saturday morning to help you stay up
to date with all things shipping. This week a couple of epic shipping polls
(with more to come) including a replay of the Sterek vs. Faberry and Sterek vs.
Destiel battles. Also an epic romance set to make a triumphant return, Supernatural is shipping all the things
and I answer your most asked question – why exactly do I ship Sterek.

Fangirl 101: Big Name Fan
There are very few parts of fandom that I am reluctant to talk about
but the BNF (Big Name Fan) is not something I’m particularly excited to
discuss. I probably would have avoided the topic if it weren’t for the number
of questions I’ve received about it (from both inside and outside fandom). Despite
my misgivings I’ll do my best to explain this phenomenon just for you lonely
reader… don’t ever say I don’t do things for you.

UndieGirl on Tropes: Wild Teen Party
A little while ago I confessed my love for trashy teen flicks and I
figured why not show this genre a little more love by highlighting on of my
favourite tropes. This is another one of
those tropes that I love in movies but loathe in real life. A wild teen party
seems like a good idea but it’s really really not. It is however overly
dramatic and often hilarious, which is what makes it so fun to watch.

Recap-turing Teen Wolf: School of Horror clichés
Previously on Teen Wolf… Scott’s life is perfect, except when it’s not. Allison is perfect, except when she’s not. And Jackson wants to go pro. Also Derek might be dead and Scott and Stiles are trapped inside the school at night with a rabid Alpha on the loose.
(Side note: thanks to the Teen Wolf lighting department for making this the hardest episode ever to screen cap - I know it's scary but they could have turned some lights on).

Fangirl Confessions: Why the Veronica Mars Movie Matters
A long time ago, we used to have Veronica
Mars on our television screens but then unfortunately this fantastic
teen-noir was cancelled. Since it’s cancellation everyone that was involved
with or in love with this show yearned for something more and that something
was a movie. Well it’s been a long wait but it’s finally going to happen: the Veronica Mars Movie is a go. That’s not
all, because not only is this movie happening but it’s happening because of us
and that is a really big deal.

Shipping News: The return of magical lesbians and a crossover ship I never knew I wanted
It’s my time of the month! I am of course referring to it being my
week to pen After Elton’s The
Shipping News and tell the world about all things slash (you should
probably read it). But I have managed to find the time to scrape together some
shipping news you lonely reader. This week: the return of Swan Queen, Jeff Davis’
social media addiction gets the better of him and I’m shipping Stiles with…
Jess Day.

The Great Jeff Davis Tumblr Askathon Part Deux
All right I am in the middle of the busiest weekend ever – but here’s
a basic outline of what when down when Jeff Davis took over the Teen Wolf Tumblr ask box again. I will
write some more analysis when I have some free time. Here’s
how I feel about Jeff for doing this on a Friday night.

Shipping News: What do you do when your ship starts to sink?
Hi guys – sorry I’m a bit late this week but a lot has been happening (most of which I can’t actually tell you yet but you’ll find out soon enough and when you do you’re going to blow chunks). Right so this week: Glee’s major couples, the first ‘real’ Teen Wolf spoilers (including who Danny getting down with) and what to do when your ship starts to sink.

Guilty Pleasures: Trashy Teen Flicks
Hi my name is UndieGirl and I love trashy teen flicks. I don’t just
mean films about teenager or marketed to teenagers – I mean those
embarrassingly cliché movies that are all about growing up, getting laid (or
not) and negotiating the hormone fueled years between the ages of 13 to 20. Every
little piece of drama is heightened to the point of ridiculousness, there is an
oversupply of red cups and there is often a musical number of no apparent
reason. They’re unoriginal, sexist and a little bit silly but I love them none
the less – so let’s hear it for the trashy teen flick one of my many guilty
pleasures.

Recap-turning Teen Wolf: Stiles is (probably) a better yoda.
Previously on Teen Wolf… Scott is still picturing Allison naked, Jackson is still looking for the juice also Derek scratched him and he should
probably get that checked out. Scott saved Allison he didn’t save the Sheriff
and there was an actual mountain lion.
